Nigeria: Dokubo-Asari Debunks Secessionist Plot

Leader of the People Salvation Front/Niger Delta People Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, has debunked reports of raid on his purported arms depot last Thursday by the Police in Rivers State, saying he had no plans to secede from the country.

He said Prince Wisdom Amachree, a.k.a General Adekunle, who made the allegation and claimed to be his second-in-command has a psychiatric problem.

Dokubo-Asari, currently in Germany for medical treatment, spoke through the public relations officer of PSF/NDPVF, Comrade Rex Anighoro said "The allegation that Alhaji Dokubo- Asari is planning a secession as declared by the so-called General Adekunle is laugable and puerile and we take it as a statement from a drunk and demented individual needing urgent pyscho -spiritual check up.

"We wish to make it abundantly clear that Prince Wisdom Amachree is not the second -in -command to Alhaji Dokubo- Asari as our movement is a people-oriented movement with no such structure.

"It is a well known fact that the said Prince Wisdom Amachree is of unstable character and mind who out of compassion has been under Alhaji Dokubo Asari's rehabilitation plan due to family ties. In fact, Alhaji Dokubo has perfected plans to send him for psychiatric treatment before his trip overseas.

"We have stated it over and over again that Alhaji Dokubo- Asari will not and can never plan to over throw the Nigerian state in such a kindergarten manner. We have often shown our preference for the convocation of a Sovereign National Conference where all ethnic nationalities in this failed entity will sit to determine the collective terms of our existence."

According to him, "Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo -Asari travelled out of the country first to Mecca to pray and then for medical check-up in Germany, a mission that is not clandestine. We have been in close and daily contact with Alhaji Dokubo- Asari and we are expecting his return.

"As a responsible people-oriented movement in the fore front of emancipating the Niger Delta, we are already in the know that "for every revolutionary movement there is always the counter revolutionary force

"We wish to unequivocally state that Dappa Dapaiye and Kingsley Solomon who were arrested by the police are bona fide members of the People Salvation Front and they are known to us. They are not robbers and not criminals.

He said the group knew about the salacious penchant of General Adekunle who invited the police for filthy lucre and also "have clear information he has been paid by agents of state to testify and blackmail Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo- Asari, Alhaji Powel and other strong members of our movement using his closeness to our leader as make- belief in order to arm-twist our leader into toning down to support the federal government's amnesty.

"We also have clear information that the Nigerian state alternatively has once more planned to arrest and assassinate Dokubo- Asari on arrival from Germany under the guise of armed robbery with "General Adekunle" acting as Judas Iscariot. Adekunle is demented.

"It must be clearly stated that at our well -published General Assembly held at Golf Prince Hotel, Port Harcourt, part of our resolution was and is that the People Salvation Front cum Niger Delta People Volunteer Force(PSF/NDPVF) will never accept amnesty.

"This resolution was a product of a clear and well articulated debate from House. However, in accommodating minority opinion, we made it pellucid that any member of our movement that was interested in taking amnesty is very free to do so.

"We are convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Dappa Dappaiye and Kingsley Solomon may have taken this option and we are not against that. We are so confident that since Alhaji communicates directly through the office of the secretary general and the spokesman and since he is in Germany, he may not be in the know.

"Up to this moment, Dappa Dappaye and Kingsley Solomon are still people we have links to and we can never deny them.

"We, therefore, state that any attempt to kill them or do any bodily harm to them will waste up the ongoing amnesty project.

"We are aware of the normal military slang of extra- judicial murder in the name of people trying to escape. We call on all human rights organisations to immediately ask the government to prefer charges against them or allow them have access to their lawyers.

"We warn that we shall not accept amnesty and any harm against Alhaji Dokubo- Asari will be a full -blown confrontation."
